MPEG-4 Video codec fix for Windows NT 4 Aug 16, 1999 By Somebody Please note that I take NO RESPONSIBILITY for any problems this fix might cause on your system. I have verified it on a local system and on a number of other users computers, but there is no way for me to be able to guarantee that it will work on each and every system configuration out there. Note that you can also install the Windows Media Tools to make this codec work, since that installation correctly registers the codec information. Do this if you feel unsecure with editing your registry with this fix. The Media Tools can be downloaded from the Ms website. The file is called wmtools.exe FIX: Install the latest (ver 6.4) Microsoft Mediaplayer if you have not already done so, and then copy the attached file (MPEG4C32.DLL) to your system directory, normally c:\winnt\system Run the attached mpeg4nt.reg file to merge the driver information into your WinNT registry database (just double click it). --add these 3 lines in your system.ini [drivers32] section-- VIDC.MPG4=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\mpg4c32.dll VIDC.MP42=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\mpg4c32.dll VIDC.MP43=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\mpg4c32.dll You may have to reboot to make the codec work in your mediaplayer, but it _should_ work without a reboot. You should now be able to play files in mpeg4 v1,2 and 3 format.
